As well as receiving support from the adults in school, we have close working links with external professionals such as.

  • Educational Physiologist - to advise on particular needs and contribute to Annual Reviews and EHCP updating when needed.
  • Speech and Language Therapist – initiate and support the pathway to an Autism diagnosis (MAA- Multi Agency Assessment), assess language levels, give report with recommendations of support needed, 1:1 sessions and group sessions
  • Complex, Communication and Autism Team (CCAT) – to support with the MAA pathway and to give advice.
  • Occupational Therapist – to give practical advice on day to day physical supportive activities as needed.
  • Child and Adolescence Mental Health Service (CAMHS) – to support with mental health needs, medically diagnose such conditions as ADHD along with possible Leaning difficulties, contribute to EHCP updates.

Annual Review process – KS3 to KS4

Every 12 months you will be invited into school for the review of your child’s Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The meeting will be held by the SENCo and any external professionals that may be working closely with your child. Our careers advisor, from Connexions, is part of the Annual Reviews held in years 9,10 and 11 to support the transition into post 16 life.

The main aim of the Annual Review is to look at the progress your child has made towards their short-term (interim) and long term (end of Keystage) targets along with discussing any queries or concerns that you may have. It is also an opportunity to determine if the school/provision is still appropriate for your child.

Here at the Brades Lodge we want to ensure that our students’ voices are heard so they are also invited and encouraged to join the meeting. This gives our young people the opportunity to give their views as well as contributing to any new targets that are set.

EHCPs are also updated in year 9 and year 11, unless there are any significant changes that need to be added sooner. Any suggested amendments are then sent off to the Local Authority along with the Annual Review paperwork for agreement.
