The Brades Lodge site employs a Careers Leader to oversee Careers Education within the school and the school has also purchased impartial Information and Guidance through Sandwell Connexions. Through the Careers and Enterprise Company, the school has also been allocated an Enterprise Adviser, Mr Adam Harris, who is Operations Director at Atlas Forklift to provide real world links and experience for our pupils. He is also our link Governor for Careers

Student Entitlements to Careers Education are set out in the Careers Policy (copies available in the Careers Department). There is a planned programme of Careers Education providing opportunities to develop and apply the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to make realistic career decisions and post 16 Education/ Employment and Training.

As a pupil at the Brades Lodge you are entitled to the following:

  • Impartial 1:1 support form Connexions
  • Careers lessons in school
  • Visit to various careers events
  • Visits to Colleges and Training Providers
  • Access to the Careers Enterprise Adviser
  • Alternative provision and work experience that interests you and your career path

In order to assess the impact Careers is having on pupils the school will be provided with the Destination Reports of pupils which analyses the destination of pupils and the retention rates post 16 (please see the links below).

The school is also working towards re- accrediting the Quality in Careers Standard to ensure the best outcomes for pupils at Shenstone Lodge School

Our careers programme will enable students to grow in confidence, develop employability skills, be ready for the world of work, develop self-awareness of what careers will suit their individual personality, skills and interests. Become aware of all post 16 options, courses and choices such as A levels, BTECS, study programmes, apprenticeships programmes. We welcome involvement and feedback from yourself as parents and guardians about what we provide at Brades in relation to careers advice and guidance"
