Withdrawal from Religious Education

Parents have the legal right to withdraw their child from Religious Education, either in full or in part. At Shenstone Lodge, Religious Education is taught in a sensitive, inclusive, and non-confessional way. Lessons are planned with careful consideration of pupils’ emotional needs and aim to support understanding, respect, and curiosity about a range of beliefs and worldviews. If a parent wishes to withdraw their child from Religious Education, they are asked to contact the Headteacher in writing. We are always happy to talk through the RE curriculum and answer any questions, should parents find this helpful. Children who are withdrawn from RE will be supported and supervised appropriately, with their emotional well-being and sense of routine given careful consideration. Withdrawal from RE will not disadvantage a child, and arrangements will be made in a way that minimises disruption and supports their individual needs.
