The vast majority are keen to learn and enjoy the wide range of activities on offer, such as residential trips and land-based activities.

Teaching is lively and teachers use a good range of practical activities to capture pupils’ interests well.

The new headteacher has set out an ambitious plan for further school improvement. He has implemented substantial improvements to staffing and the use of alternative provision for older pupils.

Senior leaders are embracing the new challenges well and are establishing greater consistency across the two school sites.

The school meets the national minimum standards for residential special schools.

It is not yet an outstanding school because:

There is some inconsistency in the quality of marking, the use of personalised targets to accelerate pupils’ learning and in encouraging pupils to work collaboratively and independently.

The attendance of pupils is not high enough and this limits the progress of those few older pupils who do not attend regularly enough.

The rate of fixed-term exclusions is too high, although it is starting to reduce dramatically.

Assessment information is not succinct enough to enable more effective checking of strengths and weakness of provision by senior leaders, governors and the local authority.The anti-bullying policy does not cover all types of bullying.

Night time fire drills are not practised and some checks on the residential provision are not recorded.

http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/news/ofsted.jpgThu, 09 Jul 2015 15:47:59 GMTThe Lodge - Issue 2http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-11-26-the-lodge-issue-2http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-11-26-the-lodge-issue-2
It is the Headteacher's intention that every half term the school produces a newsletter which provides an overview of the many positive and exciting projects that students have covered, whilst keeping you informed and up to date with school developments and dates for your diaries.

The Lodge - Issue 2
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/news/news1.jpegThu, 09 Jul 2015 15:39:08 GMTThe Lodge - Issue 1http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-10-15-the-lodge-issue-1http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-10-15-the-lodge-issue-1
It is the Headteacher's intention that every half term the school produces a newsletter which provides an overview of the many positive and exciting projects that students have covered, whilst keeping you informed and up to date with school developments and dates for your diaries.

Our School's Half Termly Newsletter
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/news/News.jpgThu, 09 Jul 2015 15:35:10 GMTOld School Photo!http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-10-13-old-school-photohttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-10-13-old-school-photo
Thank you to ex-pupil Mr John Hanley for sending in this School Photo Taken c1964/5

John Hanley has done his best to recall the names, but as he says - it is over 40 years ago!

Looking at the photograph from left to right back row:

Heather Toy, Julie Watson, Janet Randall, looking over MR Lambert's right shoulder is David ?, leaning on MR Lambert's other shoulder is me John Hanley, next to me is Julian Young, then Laurie Coleman, Danny ? sorry I don’t know the next boy, John Mathews, Royce Ali, Stephen Williams, David Jones, Paul Rogers and Paul Hancock.

Seated row left to right:

The boy standing is Stephen Symmons, next to MRS Hayton, Deputy head MR Lambert, MRS Bilbry, Headmaster MR Bilbry, The Matron MRS Lambert, Carol Salt. Throughout the term we managed to gain 7 recruits:

Kamrlee, Lynden, Marshall, Josh, Brandon, Callum M and Ramario.

So far we have had 2 fixtures against Holly Lodge and St Michael's High schools. Although the boys have yet to record a win but we were very close only losing 3 - 2.

On both occasions the lads were a credit to the school, and we hope to play more fixtures in the near future.

Holly Lodge High School

St Michael's CE High School

For more photos of these events are available from here:

BRADES LODGE v HOLLY LODGE HIGH SCHOOL

BRADES LODGE v St MICHAEL'S HIGH SCHOOL
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/news/small_football.jpgThu, 09 Jul 2015 15:31:40 GMTSummer 2013 Newsletter by Class 4http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-06-10-summer-2013-newsletter-by-class-4http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-06-10-summer-2013-newsletter-by-class-4
Summer 2013 Newsletter by Class 4
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/news/News.jpgThu, 09 Jul 2015 15:28:08 GMTThe Brades Lodge Annual School Sports Dayhttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-05-20-the-brades-lodge-annual-school-sports-dayhttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-05-20-the-brades-lodge-annual-school-sports-day
The Brades Lodge Annual School Sports Day took at the Tipton Sports Academy.

The day on a whole was a success and the majority of the students took part fully. The first part of the day consisted of the students practising the different events for the completion proper in the afternoon. The competition was hotly contested with the top three being:

1st Romario- 1730 points
2nd Josh- 1615 points
3rd Brandon- 1610 points

Congratulation to Romario who was a very worthy winner. WELL DONE ROM!

Alongside the competition winner there was an award for most effort in PE throughout the term. The winner of this award was Tony. The staff felt that Tony was the most improved performer and Ollie suggested he could be the next Mo Farah!
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/gallery/3251/IMG_0606.JPGThu, 09 Jul 2015 13:29:07 GMTKEY STAGE 3 PUPILS VISIT SAFESIDEhttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-05-10-key-stage-3-pupils-visit-safesidehttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-05-10-key-stage-3-pupils-visit-safeside
www.safeside.org.uk/

Our Key Stage 3 pupils attended 3 separate trips to SafeSide in Birmingham. SafeSide is a state-of–the-art, scenario-based, experiential learning centre that provides an innovative, interactive and enjoyable learning experience that requires visitors to think and act safely.

It features a full size indoor street scene including road crossing, bus, train, canal, car, house, police station, court room, dark alleyway, food store and post office. Key issues of fire, road, water, travel and personal safety are covered along with input on vandalism, drugs and alcohol, consequences of crime, environmental responsibilities and what to do in an emergency.

The initial trip required the students to navigate their way around the German market in Birmingham city centre with the second outing having an emphasis on Travel Training. The second group were required to navigate their way back to school using public transport.

Both groups enjoyed the day, were challenged well and ultimately were a credit toy our school.

WELL DONE LADS!!!!

{gallery:SAFESIDE}
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/news/IMG_0300.JPGThu, 09 Jul 2015 13:27:29 GMTFooty at The Brades Lodge Schoolhttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-05-03-footy-at-the-brades-lodge-schoolhttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-05-03-footy-at-the-brades-lodge-school
SHENSTONE v THE BRADES LODGE 5-a-SIDE *** STAFF + ONE AUSSIE! ***

Some Photos of the Match!

{gallery:SHENSTONE v THE BRADES LODGE 5}

CLICK HERE for more photos of the match!
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/gallery/3249/IMG_8078.JPGThu, 09 Jul 2015 13:24:46 GMTRED NOSE BAKE OFF!http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-03-15-red-nose-bake-offhttp://shenstonelodge.co.uk/news/latest/2013-03-15-red-nose-bake-off
{gallery:RED NOSE BAKE OFF!}
http://shenstonelodge.co.uk/images/gallery/3248/new-4.jpgThu, 09 Jul 2015 13:21:14 GMT
